逗号11个不可不留意的应用

逗号别小看，文章中地方不对，或者是该放的地方不放，或者是不该放的地方放了，都会影响成绩，因为雅思有个评分标准是punctuation。

 1 两个意思并列的形容词中间不是用and，而是用逗号

He is an inspiring, knowledgeable man. （√）

He is a knowledgeable, inspiring man. （√）

2 并列句的并列连词前要加逗号，特别是两个并列句句子结构有很大差异的时候

Many students have chosen to study abroad, and they think universities in other countries are more famous than those in their own country. （√）

3 并列结构一般不用逗号，除非产生歧义。

Studnets have to study hard and do many practice tests to pass exams. （√）

Students have to study hard to pass exams, and work part-time to pay tuition. （√）

第二句话，如果没有逗号，那么读者误以为work-part-time和pass exams对称。

4 状语从句在前面，一般要用逗号

If you have any question, you can email me. （√）

5 分词短语在前面，一般要用逗号

Living in a large city like this, people tend to become less sociable and patient. （√）

6 非限制性定语从句要用逗号，这个时候不能省略

Since 2000, I have been living in Auckland, where I completed a degree. （√）

如果这句话的逗号省略了，好像世界有很多个Auckland

7 句子开始有状语的时候，为了避免歧义和阅读困难，需要加逗号

Last Sunday, language classes were cancelled. （√）

8 句子之间出现一些附加信息，譬如说同位语的时候，需要加逗号

The most famous teacher of this school, John, quitted his job last year. （√）

9 一些  连接词，譬如说however, on the other hand, nevertheless, though等等，需要加逗号。

This is a sustainable product. However, it is costly. （√）

Collecting can give us a purpose to a life. There is a danger, though, that people would feel empty （√）

10 某些引导例子的词，譬如说 i.e., e.g., for instance, 也需要加逗号。

You are required to bring many items, e.g., sleeping bags and warm clothing.

11 两个独立的句子中间没有连词的时候，不能够用逗号。

Parents work very hard nowdays, children feel lonely. (X)

Parents work very hard nowdays, and children feel lonely. （√）
