This special issue “Ultrafine Particulate Matter (PM) Emissions from Automotive Vehicles” aims to collect latest research findings regarding emissions of vehicle-related ultrafine particles, including sources, fuels and technology impacts, formation and transformation pathways, physical and chemical characterisation, air quality and environmental impacts, health effects and the effectiveness of mitigation measures, as well as instrument and measurement developments related to automotive emissions. This special issue aims to be of use to the research community, vehicle manufacturers, but also to policy makers and authorities.

Both original research articles and review articles will be considered for the virtual special issue. Interested contributors are encouraged to contact guest editors Prof. Leonidas Ntziachristos ([email protected]) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Dr. Barouch Giechaskiel ([email protected]) of the Joint Research centre of the European Commission.

This special issue of the Journal of Aerosol Science addresses these and other issues:

Continuous crystallization has attracted significant attention in recent years due to the efforts put in by both the pharma industry and academics and the directives of the regulatory authorities to transition from batch manufacturing to a more efficient continuous manufacturing of pharmaceuticals. The need to ramp up the pharmaceutical production in situations such as the current COVID-19 global pandemic means that a more efficient and integrated approach in manufacturing is required to mitigate the potential shortage of lifesaving drugs.
