Taupo is a town on the shore of Lake Taupo in the centre of the North Island ofNew Zealand. It is the seat of the Taupō District Council and lies in the southern Waikato Region.
Taupō has a population of 24,100 (June 2016). In 1953, Taupō was officially constituted as a borough, but from 1989 it has been administered by the Taupo District Council, the district including both Taupō itself and the surrounding hinterland. Despite this, it is occasionally referred to as a city. It is the 20th largest urban area in New Zealand, and the second-largest in the Waikato Region.

Huka Falls

The Huka Falls are the largest falls on the Waikato River, near Taupo on New Zealand's North Island.
It is the most visited natural attraction in New Zealand!
The Waikato river is one of New Zealand's longest rivers and it drains Lake Taupo - the largest freshwater lake in all of Australasia.
称它为叹为观止的景点毫不夸张。整条河流呈冰川蓝色，如同流动的蓝宝石。由于长期以来矿物质的沉淀，怀卡托河
由12公尺高的河道断层冲泻而下，造成每秒230吨巨量的水流，浅蓝如宝石的怀卡托河因隘口及

的作用，产生喷射及向下的巨大动力，形成泡沫般的水瀑宣泄而下，故当地人称此瀑布为“Huka”，也就是泡沫的
意思

The Waikato River, normally up to 100-metres wide, abruptly narrows to just 15 metres as it crosses a hard volcanic ledge north of Lake Taupo. This causes a huge volume of water to collide and funnel through the rocky gorge, forming the spectacularly powerful falls and rapids.
步道总路程两个小时，一直到达Spa Thermal Park后原路返回。我当时没选择此路程，由于天气原因，只步行五分钟到观景台就结束。如果没有特殊徒步爱好，建议到观景台就好，此观景台就可以看最经典的景色。

Huka Prawn Park
陶波钓虾场
The Huka Prawn Park grows giant Malaysian river prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii), by using geothermal waste water from the Contact Energy Wairakei geothermal powerstation. It uses 250 tonnes per hour in summer and 400 tonnes in winter of over 90 °C geothermal waste waster in a system of heat exchangers to heat water from the Waikato River to rear the prawns.
虽说陶波是新西兰最大河虾生产地，钓虾经历也不可多得，但是此项活动一直差评不断。虾很难钓上来，后来点单吃虾，又非常贵。建议省略此景点，作者早有预料，跳过此地。中国大江大河，还愁河虾资源？
LakeTaupo

It is a lake in the North Island of New Zealand. It is in the caldera of the Taupo Volcano. With a surface area of 616 square kilometres (238 sq mi), it is the largest lake by surface area in New Zealand, and the second largest freshwater lake by surface area in geopolitical Oceania after Lake Murray (Papua New Guinea). Motutaiko Island lies in the south east area of the lake.

今年四月的秋季已经自己找驴友自驾来罗托鲁瓦一趟了，这次北岛之旅算是第二次游玩。
罗托鲁瓦是一个相当有“味道”的城市。本身的地热优势塑造了遍地的温泉，最有特色的还是硫磺温泉。刚一入这个城市的边境，扑鼻而来的臭鸡蛋味。一开始对这种恶臭无法接受，但是后来慢慢就习惯了。

上文介绍这整个地区都被丰富的地热资源包围着，这个地热公园也是值得一看的。虽然硫磺味真的偏重，但是没有到无法忍受的地步。只是参观者还是要做好心理准备。
作者当时去参观时着实被震撼到。大自然真的太奇妙了，所有不同的矿物质累积和沉淀竟能有如此色彩斑斓的化学反应。
同时还有间歇泉。每天早上10:15喷发一次。
还有比较有特色的就是泥浆。
近期发现任由网票价算非常划算了，而且服务也非常周到。退票、取消、确认的速度都非常快。
