Plastic China, Green Initiatives 83rd Film Screening, is a close-up
view of the plastic waste generated in China, and the recycler’s dilemma of health, poverty and pollution.
《塑料中国》，绿色倡议的第83次电影放映，给了中国存在的塑料垃圾，以及回收者的健康、贫困和污染的困境一个特写镜头。
Film Synopsis 电影介绍
An unschooled 11-year-old girl Yi-Jie, she's a truly global child who learns the world through the United Nations of Wastes while working with her YI minority parents in this recycle workshop thousand miles away from their mountain village home town.
Yi-jie 是一个11岁却仍没上学的女孩，她是个真正的“全球化”孩子，她在距自己家乡千里之外的，与她的彝族父母一起工作的回收站中，从全球的废弃物中了解到了世界。
Going to school is all Yi-Jie is longing for. And the ambitious boss of the workshop Kun, who works so hard for trying to give his family a better life. Through the story of these two families, the film explores how these wastes recycled by the bare hands of families, and discovers their dilemma and choices of suffering irreversible damages on life just to make a living. It also observes that the world is flat and issues don't go away by changing time and location - we're all in this together.
上学是Yi-jie一直的向往。片中还有一位雄心勃勃的车间老板Kun，为了给他的家人一个更好的生活而努力工作。通过这两个家庭的故事，探讨了这些废品时如何经过他们的双手回收利用的，并为了存活而忍受对健康不可逆转的伤害。
这部片子还观察到，世界是“平”的，问题不会随着时间和地点的变化而消失——我们都需要一起承受。
Green Initiatives believes that the problem of plastics concerns all of us, and it is not sufficient to look to or blame the government or industry. Change needs to start with us and we need to reduce our own consumption of plastic products and packaging.
绿色倡议认为，有关塑料的问题是我们所有人都关心的问题，并且它还不足以让我们看到或指责政府或是行业。改变需要从我们开始，我们需要减少我们自己的塑料产品和包装的消费。
The event aims to take a constructive look at the problem and the potential solutions, starting with changing individual behavior.
