端午节（Dragon Boat Festival）为每年农历五月初五，又称端阳节、午日节、五月节等。“端午节”为中国国家法定节假日之一，并已被列入世界非物质文化遗产名录。端午节起源于中国，最初是中国人民祛病防疫的节日，吴越之地春秋之前有在农历五月初五以龙舟竞渡形式举行部落图腾祭祀的习俗；后因诗人屈原在这一天死去，便成了中国人民纪念屈原的传统节日；部分地区也有纪念伍子胥、曹娥等说法。
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar. The exact date varies from year to year on the Gregorian calendar（格里高里历, 所谓的公历）.
The festival was long marked as a cultural festival in China, the government, however, did not officially recognize Duanwu as a public holiday（法定假期） until 2008.
Among Malaysian, Singaporean people 马来西亚人 新加坡人, the festival is also known as the "Fifth Month Festival," the "Fifth Day Festival," and the "Dumpling Festival." In Indonesian印度尼西亚, the festival is known as "Peh Cun", which is derived from the Hokkien phrase（扒船).

端午节的目的是为了纪念一个叫屈原的政治家，同时他也是一名伟大的诗人。

他爱国爱民受人尊敬，却由于被嫉妒而受到陷害，逐渐被皇帝冷落。

屈原由于无法得到皇帝重用，眼看着自己的国家沦陷，于是投如汨罗江自尽。
Unable to regain the respect of the emperor, watching his country falling into enemies, Qu Yuan threw himself into the Mi Low river and killed himself.
汨罗江畔的百姓划船在江中寻找他们尊敬爱戴的屈原，并且将米丢入汨罗江中，使屈原避免蛟龙的伤害。
The local people living adjacent to the Mi Lo River rushed into their boats to search for him while throwing rice into the waters to appease the river dragons.
尽管他们当时并没有找到屈原，但是他们的行为直到今天仍然被人们传颂着。
Although they were unable to find Qu Yuan, their efforts are still celebrated today.
