Benjamin Cravatt

Benjamin F. Cravatt III教授,化学生物学领域的领军人物,被誉为活动性蛋白质谱(Activity-based Protein Profiling, ABPP)技术的开创者之一。他在蛋白质功能、人类生理和疾病机制的研究方面作出了杰出贡献。Cravatt教授致力于发现新的治疗靶点和候选药物,为药物发现领域做出了重大贡献。Cravatt教授因其卓越的科学成就当选为美国国家科学院院士、美国国家医学院院士和美国艺术与科学院院士,并荣获2022年沃尔夫化学奖(Wolf Prize in Chemistry)等国际知名奖项。Cravatt教授的研究结合了化学与生物学,开发了变革性的ABPP技术,显著推动了小分子抑制剂和配体的发现,对神经系统和癌症研究产生了深远影响,他是Gilula化学生物学讲席教授,也是世界蛋白质组学顶级科学家之一。


Professor Benjamin F. Cravatt III is a leading figure in the field of chemical biology and is regarded as one of the pioneers of Activity-based Protein Profiling (ABPP) technology. He has made outstanding contributions to the study of protein function, human physiology, and disease mechanisms. By focusing on the discovery of novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates, Professor Cravatt has made substantial contributions to the field of drug discovery. Due to his exceptional scientific achievements, Professor Cravatt has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has received prestigious international awards, including the 2022 Wolf Prize in Chemistry. Professor Cravatt’s research combines chemistry and biology to develop powerful tools like ABPP, which has revolutionized the discovery of small molecule inhibitors and ligands, having a profound impact on research in the nervous system and cancer. He holds the Gilula Chair in Chemical Biology and is one of the leading scientists in the field of global proteomics.




袁钧瑛 Junying Yuan

袁钧瑛教授,分子生物学家,中国科学院外籍院士、美国艺术与科学院院士、美国国家科学院院士,是细胞死亡研究领域的开创者之一。她长期致力于细胞死亡机制的分子调控研究,特别是其在癌症和神经退行性疾病中的影响。袁教授发现了第一个细胞凋亡基因caspase,为细胞凋亡研究奠定了基础。她提出了程序性坏死(necroptosis)的概念,颠覆了传统对坏死的理解,并揭示了RIPK1在这一过程中的关键作用。袁教授的开创性研究不仅推动了癌症和神经退行性疾病领域的进展,也为新的治疗方法提供了全新的视角。她是细胞死亡机制领域的全球领军人物,对该领域的科学进展和治疗策略产生了深远影响。


Professor Junying Yuan, a molecular biologist, is a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences. She is one of the pioneers in the field of cell death research, with a focus on the molecular regulation of cell death mechanisms, particularly their implications for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Professor Yuan discovered the first cell death gene, which laid the foundation for apoptosis research. She introduced the concept of necroptosis, which challenged the traditional understanding of necrosis and revealed the crucial role of RIPK1 in this process. Her groundbreaking research has not only advanced the fields of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases but has also provided new perspectives for novel therapeutic strategies. Professor Yuan is a global leader in the field of cell death mechanisms, and her work has profoundly impacted scientific progress and therapeutic strategies in this area.
