When I was in a middle school, a classmate was raped and so ashamed of it - she killed herself. My mother told me that if anything like that ever happened to me - to always come to her and dad. That they will fix everything: find and punish the rapist, move to other cities, get medical treatment. That we can all start over.

It’s very powerful to know that there are at least two people in the world who will always have my back. No matter what. This knowledge helped me many times in tough situations.
