Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker that has made a successful charge into electric vehicles (EVs), entered the luxury segment of that market on Thursday with the official launch of the SU7 Ultra, its most premium model so far.
Xiaomi entered the luxury segment of that market on Thursday.
smartphone maker又后面加了个定语从语,做进一步补充:that has made a successful charge into electric vehicles (EVs),成功进军电动汽车领域的手机制造商。
主干后面,跟了一个with结构:with the official launch of the SU7 Ultra, its most premium model so far
“its most premium model so far”是“the SU7 Ultra”的同位语。
make a charge into
”,用法为:charge an amount for sth”,例如:
The hotel charges $100 per night for a standard room.
Alex had forgotten to charge the battery.
segment
在这里表示 “细分市场;领域” ,the luxury segment of that market 即 “那个市场的豪华细分市场。
Our company is targeting the youth segment of the market.
The market can be divided into several segments based on different consumer needs.
premium
place/set/put a premium on...
The school places a premium on students' all - round development.
To combat the trap of putting a premium on being busy, Cal Newport, author of Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World, recommends building a habit of “deep work” – the ability to focus without distraction.
The company jumped into China’s crowded EV market in March with its debut models, the SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max, which was one of the most widely watched business shifts by a Chinese tech company.
Jump into
可以同前面的make a charge into替换,此外也可以说venture into, make inroads into,都表示“涉足某个领域”,例如:
The tech company's latest venture into artificial intelligence has resulted in lucrative profits for shareholders.
Since I first lived in Chengdu, ‘Western food’ has made enormous inroads into China. Aside from the country’s colonisation by McDonalds and KFC, there are coffee bars and pizzerias, and the new supermarkets offer a range of imported products.
debut
Consider the iPhone’s launch, 16 years ago.
But the device that Tim Cook unveiled on June 5th was billed as something more significant.
The company’s shares briefly hit a record high of HK$58.70 in Hong Kong on Thursday morning, before closing down 5.7 per cent at HK$53.10. Its market value crossed the HK$1 trillion threshold for the first time earlier this month when shares hit HK$40.10.
close down n% at...
是个股市专用术语,意思是“收盘下跌n%,点位是...”,文中before closing down 5.7 per cent at HK$53.10意思是:随后收跌5.7%,为53.10港元。
1)
be n% lower
2)
drop n%
