This is teacher Nelli, one of the superstar teachers here at 51 Talk.
我是Nelli老师，51Talk超级外教中的一员。
This week we will learn some expressions about pastimes and hobbies. The fourth topic that we will learn is about giving advice. This dialogue has two characters: Layla and Monica. They are out and they are talking about changing a career.
本周我们将学习消遣和爱好类的表达。今天要了解的是如何给出建议。这段对话中有两个人物：莱拉和莫妮卡。他们在外面谈论改变职业生涯。
LAYLA: Thanks for meeting with me during your lunch hour. I appreciate it.
莱拉： 谢谢您在午餐时间见我。我很感激。
MONICA: No problem. I’m happy to help. What’s going on?
莫妮卡： 没事。我愿意帮忙。什么事？
LAYLA: Oh you know, the usual. Should I take this new job? Or do I stick with my current one?
莱拉： 如你所知，还是那些事儿。我该接受这份新工作吗？还是继续坚守岗位？
MONICA: Well, I think it’s time for a change, don’t you? They pay you late and you are unhappy.
莫妮卡： 嗯，我觉得该换换了，难道不是吗？他们不按时给你发工资，而且你也不开心。
LAYLA: Do you really think so?
莱拉： 你真这么想吗？
MONICA: I know so. And I’ve been listening to you complain for over a year now.Trust me. Take the job. What do you have to lose?
莫妮卡： 我确信。我都听你抱怨了一年多了。听我的。接受新工作。你有什么好担心的。

• “给建议”正式&非正式表达
In formal conversation, giving advice is often suggested through modals:
ought to/ should / could / If I were you.
In informal conversations people tendto use words such as I think that/ I feel that/ in my opinion.
在正式对话中，一般都是通过情态动词来给出建议：ought to/ should /could / If I were you。在非正式对话中，人们习惯用I think that/ I feelthat/ in my opinion。

I know so & trust me
Listen for the emphasis on I know so and Trust me. These common phrasescan be used to convey both positive and negative emotions. “I know so” conveysa deep belief or certainty. “To know” shows more certainty than “to think.”
听一下I know so 和trust me 上的重读。这些常见短语既能表达正面情绪，也能表现负面情绪。I know so 表现的是确信和坚定。To know 比 to think 要更确定。
• Take the job. /Trust me. / Go for it!
Notice the use of command forms: Take the job. /Trust me. / Go for it!The command form can be used to gently persuade someone.
注意命令式的使用：Take the job. /Trust me. / Go for it! 命令式可以用来温和地劝说某人。
