正文

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in a new laboratory, Azusa Inoue’s Lab.The lab studies mechanisms and functions of epigenetic reprogramming inmammalian early embryos. The lab is located at RIKEN Center for IntegrativeMedical Sciences (IMS) at Yokohama, Japan. We are seeking a Ph.D (or candidate)with strong bioinformatics background.

We are looking for a person whomeets the qualification below;

       Ph.D.(or candidate) with excellent bioinformatics skills, such as integrated dataanalyses for RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, DNA methylome, and ATAC-seq data sets, etc

       Personwith self-motivation and written/oral communication skills

       Genomeor epigenome biology background are preferred, but not required

[Inoue’s research]

Ihave been interested in epigenetic regulations and functions in mammalianoocytes and preimplantation embryos in which the epigenetic landscape isdrastically reprogrammed at genome wide. In the past, I have studied themechanism of paternal DNA demethylation (1-5), the mechanism and function ofpaternal nucleosome assembly (6), the developmental dynamics of accessiblechromatin structures (7), and discovered a new genomic imprinting mechanismmediated by maternal histone methylation (8, 9). I integrate oocyte/embryomicromanipulation techniques (3-10), maternal protein depletion system (6, 10),and low-input cutting-edge chromatin analysis technologies (4, 7-9). In thefuture, I will study the mechanisms and functions of histone-dependent genomicimprinting and transgenerational epigenetic inheritance.

[The purpose of this recruitment]

Recentinnovations have made it possible to profile epigenetic modifications at asingle locus level in rare biological samples, such as mammalian oocytes andpreimplantation embryos. More and more NGS data will be accumulated in thisfield in the next years. The following main stream will definitely be‘manipulation’ of the epigenome to understand its biological functions. Tomaterialize this, embryologists and bioinformaticians have to cooperate moreclosely. Since this field has far-reaching impacts on human society and medicalsciences including artificial reproductive technologies, regenerative medicine,and agriculture, it will become a more attractive content in the near future. Iam seeking my research partner with high motivation and strong bioinformaticskills. If a successful candidate desires, I am happy to teach wet experimentsincluding micromanipulation techniques and cutting-edge chromatin technologiesso he/she prepares for establishing their own labs.
