Laboratory/Department: Systems Neurobiology Laboratory

The long-range goal of the laboratory is to understand the neural mechanisms of selective visual attention at the level of the individual neuron and the cortical circuit, and to relate these to perception and conscious awareness.

Position Description:

A postdoctoral position funded by the NIH is immediately available in the laboratory of Professor John Reynolds at the Salk Institute. The postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Reynolds on a collaborative project involving experimentalists (Reynolds and Mark Histed, NIH) and theoreticians (Ken Miller, Columbia University; Nicolas Brunel, Duke) in which we will combine optogenetics, computational modeling, multi-electrode electrophysiology, and visual psychophysics in behaving mice and non-human primates to pursue research questions concerning the relationship between neural activity and visual perception.

The position is fully funded for two years, with the potential for extending funding upon successful completion of initial project goals.
