In recent years, domain name security and abuse have become major concerns for governments and international organizations. Threat actors can use simple attacks such as DNS hijacking and sub-domain hijacking leading to large-scale cybersecurity threats, with domain name abuse and spoofing—such as cybersquatting and typosquatting—being major sources of distribution for scams, phishing attacks, and ransomware. The definitions of domain security, compliance, and abuse can vary locally and abroad, making it essential for both Chinese companies expanding globally and global companies doing business in China to have a clear understanding. This briefing will bring together top domestic and international organizations to discuss how to address these threats.
