Join Us at Goldschmidt 2025 in
Prague! Submit Your Abstract by February 26th!
We are thrilled to
announce that we are convening a session at the
2025 Goldschmidt
Conference
in the beautiful city of
Prague
! Our session,
titled
"Development of Non-Traditional Stable Isotopes in
Terrestrial and Marine Carbonate Archives"
(
Session 08l
),
will explore the cutting-edge advancements in the field of non-traditional
stable isotopes of carbonates and their application in reconstructing past
oceanographic and climatic conditions.
Session Highlights:
The evolving field of non-traditional stable isotopes is revolutionizing our
ability to reconstruct Earth's past environments with unprecedented accuracy
and detail. Recent breakthroughs in analytical techniques, such as
high-precision mass spectrometry, have enabled more precise measurements of
isotope ratios, while the development of paleo-archives has expanded our
ability to apply these proxies to ancient times. Carbonate minerals, in
particular, offer a unique window into past climates, as they record the
environmental conditions during their formation.
This session will
focus on the latest developments in the application of metal stable isotopes
(e.g., B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Ce) and clumped isotopes in carbonate sediments and
rocks. We will explore their use in various materials, including mollusk
shells, foraminifera, corals, and brachiopods, among others. We invite
contributions that highlight:
-
Breakthroughs in analytical techniques
-
Integration of multiple isotopic proxies
-
Biomineralization and early diagenesis processes that influence isotopic signatures
-
Modeling and experimental approaches that enhance our understanding of isotopic records in carbonate archives
Call for Abstracts:
We encourage researchers to submit their latest findings and methodological
advancements, including lab experiments on synthetic carbonates and early
diagenetic processes in natural carbonate sediments. Our goal is to bring
together a diverse group of scientists to share innovative uses of these
geochemical tools in reconstructing past climate change and biogeochemical
cycles.
Abstract Submission
Deadline: February 26, 2025

Why Attend?
This session aims to deepen our understanding of the geochemical processes
recorded in carbonate archives, contributing to broader insights into Earth's
climatic and environmental evolution. Join us in Prague to connect with leading
researchers, share your discoveries, and be part of the conversation shaping
the future of geochemical research.
We look forward to
seeing you in Prague! Let’s push the boundaries of science together!
