五一假期消费支出强劲!

Promising signs of increased tourism and consumer spending over the five-day holiday. Data released by the delivery platform Meituan on "eating, drinking, and entertainment" shows consumption of these services rose by 25 percent year-on-year across China over the first three days of the holiday. Dine-in orders increased 73 per-cent compared to the same period last year. Meituan and Trip.com data also shows a surge in searches related to "county-level tourism" over the past month. During the Labor Day holiday, bookings for county-level hotels rose by close to 50 percent from a year earlier, while orders from local supermarkets and stores saw a 55 percent increase. "Off-the-beaten-path scenery" and "local specialties" emerged as some of the most sought after experiences.
