US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday afternoon that the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord, the global climate pact that was sanctioned by his predecessor and nearly 200 other world leaders.
当地时间周四下午，美国总统特朗普宣布美国将退出巴黎气候协定。这项全球性的气候协定由其前任奥巴马和近200名全球领导人共同签署。

"As of today, the United States will cease all
implementation
of the
non-binding
Paris accord and the
draconian
financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country," Trump said.

The
Paris Agreement
was sanctioned by 195 parties in Paris in 2015 and it went into effect in November last year. The pact sets a target of holding the global average rise in temperature below 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels, and preferably below 1.5 degrees.

《巴黎协定》提供了一个全球合作的框架，各缔约国致力于逐步弃用化石能源，采用清洁能源，以控制温室气体的排放量。
在全球平均气温不断上升的当下，这一协定引领的全球应对行动被称为“与时间赛跑”。

Scientists say Earth is likely to reach more dangerous levels of warming sooner as a result of the president's decision because America's pollution contributes so much to rising temperatures. Calculations suggest withdrawal could result in emissions of up to 3 billion tons of additional carbon dioxide a year — enough to melt ice sheets faster, raise seas higher and trigger more extreme weather.

“I do respect this decision but I do think it is an actual mistake both for the U.S. and for our planet.”

然后呼吁被特朗普气到了的科学家、企业家们到法国来，这里是你们的第二故乡：
“To all scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, responsible citizens who were disappointed by the decision of the United States,
I want to say that they will find in France a second homeland.
I call on them: Come and work here with us — to work together on concrete solutions for our climate, our environment. I can assure you, France will not give up the fight.”
