The Zigong Salt Making Industry History Museum is China’s only museum presenting the history and evolution of the country’s well salt production. It is located in the Xiqin Guild Hall in Zigong City, southwest of China's Sichuan Province.
自贡市盐业历史博物馆是中国唯一一座展示国家井盐生产历史和演变的博物馆。它位于中国西南部四川省自贡市的西秦会馆内。Composed of a group of magnificent ancient buildings, the Xiqin Guild Hall was originally a gathering place built by wealthy merchants (商人) from the northwest of China’s Shaanxi Province who came to the Zigong area for the salt business in 1736.西秦会馆由一组宏伟的古建筑组成,最初是1736年中国西北部陕西省的富商们为了在自贡地区从事盐业生意而建造的聚会场所。
The Zigong Salt Making Industry History Museum was founded in March 1959. It is a specialized museum that preserves, studies and exhibits the historic relics of China’s well salt-making industry, and has been honored as a national first-grade museum of China.自贡市盐业历史博物馆成立于1959年3月。它是一座专门保存、研究和展示中国井盐生产历史文物的博物馆,被誉为中国国家一级博物馆。
A large number of relics, samples (样品), and historical photos are displayed at the museum, showcasing China’s achievements in the past 2,000 years in the fields of well drilling (钻井), brine (盐水) lifting, salt making and natural gas mining. They represent the evolution and development of well salt production technology.
博物馆里展示了大量的文物、样品和历史照片,展现了中国过去2 000年在钻井、提卤、制盐和天然气开采等领域的成就。它们代表了井盐生产技术的演变和发展。
The museum has attracted crowds of visitors. Faiza Kab from Algeria said, “Before visiting this museum, I only knew about sea salt, but not well salt. This is the first time I have learned about well salt.” Álvaro Lago from Spain was more amazed by the museum, saying, “What surprised me was its delicate architecture and some interactive projects for visitors. When I pumped water from the model machine that people used about 2,000 years ago, I felt like history was within reach.”
