'Empty-nest' youth on rise in China

China has lately witnessed an increase of so-called "empty-nest" youth, or young people who live alone, which experts believe is a cause for public concern.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that 12.45 percent of households were inhabited by one person in 2015. The figure in 2008 was 8.3 percent.

Trump signs executive order to withdraw U.S. from TPP

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order formally ending the United States' participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

But International institutions, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, have warned that an inward-looking policy and protectionism could be a threat to global growth.
