The Yellow River is the third longest in Asia and the sixth longest in the world. The word “yellow” describes the color of the muddy water of the river. The Yellow River, as one of several rivers for China to live on, originates from Qinghai, flows through nine provinces, and finally pours into the Bohai Sea. The river basin is not only the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization, but also the most prosperous region in the early history of China. However, because of the frequent devastating floods, it has caused many disasters. In the past few decades, the government has taken a variety of measures to prevent disasters.

Zhujiang River, which flows through Guangzhou city, is the biggest river system in South China, and is also the third longest river in China, only shorter than Yangtze River and Yellow River. The Zhujiang delta is one of the most developed areas of China, which covers about 11,000 square kilometers. The delta is also the biggest city-gathering area of the world in its coverage and population. The nine biggest cities sum up to over 57 million population in Zhujiang delta. Since the reform and opening-up policy in late 1970s, Zhujiang delta has become one of the most influential economy area and manufacturing center in both China and the World.

The Yangtze River is the longest river in Asia and the third longest one in the world. The river, irrigating 1/5 of China’s territory, flows through a variety of different eco-systems and is the habitat of many endangered species. With more than 1/3 of Chinese people living along the river basin, it plays a vital role in China’s history, culture and economy. The Yangtze River delta contributes to more than 20% of China’s GDP. Over the past thousands of years, the Yangtze River has been utilized for water supply, transportation and industrial production. And the largest hydropower plant in the world is located on the Yangtze River.   

In the contemporary world, whether to attend college at home or abroad has become a simple but thought-provoking question for many students after their high school graduation. 

If finance is not a problem, going abroad to study can be a good choice for some students. As the competition for jobs has become fiercer than ever today, students need to gain as good an education as they can in order to have a bright future. Therefore, to pursue a university degree overseas would be a better idea than just staying at home. With a decent academic background and a bachelor’s or master’s degree, when they come back and compete in the job market in China, they would probably be favored by some state-owned enterprises and private companies. 

Also, attending university in a foreign country helps students to broaden their horizons, and to gain more academic knowledge and cross-culture life experience. These are the exclusive benefits that can only be provided by studying abroad. 

I, as a college student, am convinced that it is of great necessity for students to acquire knowledge abroad if they have such an opportunity.

When it comes to college life, there is a simple but thought-provoking question for all students: to major in science or humanities? 

Suppose individuals intend to acquire useful knowledge and find a well-paid job, it is advisable for them to choose to major in science. As the competition for jobs has become fiercer than ever today, students need to gain a higher education that can be immediately beneficial for their future job hunting. Therefore, by absorbing useful knowledge and mastering practical skills in science subjects, students can be well-armed during their college life. With a decent academic background, a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and strong practical skills, when science majors graduate and compete in the job market, they are likely to win an advantage over those majoring in humanities and be favored by some state-owned enterprises and international companies. 

I, as a college student, am convinced that it is advantageous for students to choose science as their major for their own benefits if they have an opportunity to make a choice. 

Modern society has made job hunting more difficult than ever for college students, and many data have continually testified this tendency. Therefore, the question of whether to attend a vocational college or a university has become a sore spot for millions of high school graduates. From my perspective, the latter choice would definitely make more sense.

Firstly, university education would play a more important role in preparing students for different future choices as many students cannot decide what they would like to do before finishing their four-year study. Moreover, with more majors, subjects, and courses to select from at universities, students would easily find their favorite subjects and their advantages. Even though a vocational college could help students find a job, it may hide some talent of a student by limiting his career choices and reducing the time for academic study.

To summarize, students are highly recommended to choose university for further study in that it offers more knowledge and skills for various future choices and allows the time to discover one’s true talents.

Tang dynasty started in 618 and ended in 907. It was the most splendid period in China’s history. With around 300 years’ development, Tang dynasty China became the most prosperous power. The capital Chang’an was the biggest cosmopolitan across the world at that time. During that period, it was economically developed, commercially prosperous and stable in social order. What’s more, its border was open to the outside world. With the urbanization and the increasing wealth, arts and literature moved forward as well. Libai and Dufu were poets famous for their writings in the concise and natural style. Their poems tugged on the heartstrings of scholars and folks. Even nowadays, many of their poems are widely read and recited by children and adults.
