Yet, moving forward swiftly is something Umfang has become accustomed to.

Reflecting on her musical roots, Umfang's memories trace back to her teenage years in Kansas City, where her tastes spanned from punk and metal to Janet Jackson and Madonna's 'Ray of Light'—an album she now recognizes as a masterpiece of electronic music, though once dismissed as cheesy. It was during college that she truly immersed herself in electronic music, discovering its rich history and vast potential.

Kansas City was not a particularly stimulating environment for Umfang. As she has shared, the long drives and radio music of the Midwest shaped her early musical experiences. In New York, however, she found herself yearning for more. Today, she draws inspiration from environments rich in diversity, collaboration, and experimentation, qualities that fuel her creative drive and keep her engaged with the ever-evolving electronic music scene.

Since its inception in 2014, Discwoman has established itself as a vital force in electronic music, advocating for female, non-binary, and trans artists within a male-dominated industry. Similarly, Technofeminism serves as a platform to showcase DJs who are new to the scene or have had limited performance opportunities. When reflecting on the support network for young musicians entering the electronic music realm, Umfang emphasizes the significance of individual mentorship.

"Just one or two people, with their support and encouragement, can make a young artist feel capable of shining," Umfang explains. She herself benefited from such support early on, when a key A&R in New York took interest in her work, providing her with opportunities to engage with the community and the confidence to move forward. Now, as a prominent figure, she aims to extend the same encouragement to emerging talents, believing that a chance at the start can drastically alter their career path.

The 2014 festival at Bossa Nova Civic Club marked Discwoman's first major milestone. This two-day event, stretching from evening to night, featured a diverse lineup of DJs and was a pivotal moment not only for Umfang and her co-founders but also for the broader New York electronic music scene. "The festival was hugely successful," Umfang recalls, "it empowered everyone involved and undoubtedly served as a foundational moment for Discwoman, solidifying its position as a pioneer of inclusivity in electronic music."

THEUS，一支硬核电音组合，由制作人Doppelgenger（GURUZ / ASYLUM）与鼓手Mitsuki Takeda（CRIKEY CREW, MASTERPEACE）组成。Doppelgenger以在日本及海外派对与音乐节上的震撼表演而闻名，Takeda则是日本硬核音乐圈的佼佼者。2016年7月，他们发行了首张完整专辑，并随即展开了全国23站的巡演。同年，他们在纽约完成了国际首秀。

THEUS, a hardcore trance unit, comprises producer Doppelgenger (GURUZ / ASYLUM), known for electrifying performances at parties and festivals across Japan and beyond, and drummer Mitsuki Takeda (CRIKEY CREW, MASTERPEACE), a prominent figure in Japan's hardcore scene. In July 2016, they released their debut full-length album, embarking on an extensive 23-stop nationwide tour. That same year, they made their international debut in New York.
