Guangzhou Customs have recently reported that they intercepted a parcel sent from abroad after its X-ray inspection image showed abnormalities. When they conducted a manual inspection, they found that the parcel contained 10.92 grams of marijuana.
The parcel was found at the Guangzhou Post Office, and customs officers said when they opened it, it emitted a strong pungent smell. The on-site test came back positive for cannabis.
Samples sent to a professional testing institution for further testing also showed that the product was marijuana, weighing a total of 10.92 grams.
The case has been handed over to the customs anti-smuggling department for further processing.
In another related case, customs in Shenzhen Post Office also reported that they recently seized a parcel containing 426.1 grams of marijuana.
The officers said they found machine inspcetion image of a parcel declared as a "Blower" suspicious and decided to conduct a manual inspection.
After opening the box, they found a chocolate pie box which contained plastic bags full of crushed plant materials.
The on-site test showed that the plant materials was positive for THC, and they weighed 426.1 grams in total.
The case has been handed over to the customs anti-smuggling department for handling.
Customs officers from both offices reminded residents that Marijuana is a controlled drug in China and has been listed in the China's Catalogue of Narcotic Drugs (2013 Edition).
According to the provisions of Article 347 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, smuggling, trafficking, transportation and manufacture of drugs, regardless of the quantity, shall be investigated for criminal responsibility and criminally punished.
