There seems to be connections between all these three readings of correctness, to be centered around the criterion of a norm. But, while in the metalogical concept of correctness-as-soundness truth is something that is attributed or denied to sentences, with the logical concept of correctness-as-accuracy it deals with actions (also verbal actings) and allows gradations. As to the moral correctness, it refers to social norms and departs from the criterion of truth. A special emphasis is to be made on Dummett inferentialist explication of the conceptoche, in this respect: does such a logical explanation succeed in affording the meaning of such non-logical concepts.

ADAPTIVE 2018, The Tenth International Conference on Adaptive and Self-adaptive Systems and Applications, targets advanced system and application design paradigms driven by adaptiveness and self-adaptiveness. With the current tendencies in developing and deploying complex systems, and under the continuous changes of system and application requirements, adaptation is a key feature. Speed and scalability of changes require self-adaptation for special cases. How to build systems to be easily adaptive and self-adaptive, what constraints and what mechanisms must be used, and how to evaluate a stable state in such systems are challenging duties.  Context-aware and user-aware are major situations where environment and user feedback is considered for further adaptation.

ADAPTIVE 2018 is aimed at technical papers presenting research and practical results, industrial small- and large-scale systems, challenging applications, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific topics, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the topics, short papers on work in progress, and panel proposals.

We solicit both academic, research, and industrial contributions. We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the above topics short papers on work in progress, and panel proposals.

The goal of the ACM/SPEC International Conference on Performance Engineering (ICPE) is to integrate theory and practice in the field of performance engineering by providing a forum for sharing ideas and experiences between industry and academia. Nowadays, complex systems of all types, like Web-based systems, data centers and cloud infrastructures, social networks, peer-to-peer, mobile and wireless systems, cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things, real-time and embedded systems, have increasingly distributed and dynamic system architectures that provide high flexibility, however, also increase the complexity of managing end-to-end application performance. ICPE brings together researchers and industry practitioners to share and present their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research on performance engineering of software and systems, including performance measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time performance management. The focus of ICPE is both on classical metrics such as response time, throughput, resource utilization, and (energy) efficiency, as well as on the relationship to other system properties including but not limited to scalability, elasticity, availability, reliability, and security.
