About this role
The APAC Marketing team in BlackRock sets the strategic direction and implements marketing plans for client business in Asia Pacific. It is the responsibility of this team to raise brand awareness and drive preference of our investment capabilities, including analysing the return on investment to inform and evolve future activities.

About the role
We’re looking for energetic individuals with an ability to create insightful, powerful narratives and distil the complex into simple, concise messages. An ability to create original content in English and Chinese, and adapt existing materials to suit the needs of local markets will be critical to this role. A solid understanding of the asset management industry, financial services and capital markets will also be key to making this role a success.
This individual will have a multi-faceted role: combine knowledge of capital markets and our industry, and excellent creative writing skills to help deliver content for Asia Pacific, while collaborating with multi-functional teams in the region and globally, including Global Product Solutions, Investment teams, and the BlackRock Investment Institute.  Ideal candidates will take pride in creating memorable, concise narratives to convey complex topics, thrive working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and enjoy working on strategic projects. The role would suit candidates who can bring experience gained from working in financial media and within financial services.
The role will report to a Director in the team.

Overview of Responsibility:
Support strategy, Create and influence content
Craft compelling narratives and stories to enable sales and build the BlackRock and iShares brands.
Think and create across various types of content including print, digital, video, and infographics.
Articulate and pivot messaging to address regional and client segment specific nuances.
Collaborate closely with Global Product Solutions, Client Marketing, Communications, Client Business teams to support global narratives and thought leadership, under tight deadlines.
Support the creation and development of high-impact, client/segment-tailored investment insights and investment marketing content.
Assist in creating investment marketing content and communications during major market events or crises.
Support scaled distribution
Contribute to integrated, commercial activation plans for our product launches/enhancements and thought leadership publications, working with clients, communications and product partners.

Team development
Collaborate with regional marketers in US, Europe and client marketers in Asia Pacific on content marketing initiatives and product campaigns. You will support in crafting the campaign’s content messaging and strategy, campaign materials, and activation strategies to successfully deliver product materials to the intended target audience.
Help nurture the skills and development of more junior team members.
Ensure all product and content messaging initiatives are compliant and implemented within BlackRock guidelines, controls and processes.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:
At least 10 years of experience with proven experience working in financial services – specifically within content and editorial, product marketing, and / or directly relevant role.
Able to create original content in English and Chinese, and adapt English language content into Chinese.
Solid understanding of the financial industry ecosystem, ideally including investment products such as ETFs, mutual funds and alternatives.
Strong commercial market awareness, client acumen and intellectual curiosity.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral), quantitative, and analytical skills. You thrive on delivering messages in an innovative and engaging manner and are able to maintain creativity in a fast-paced environment. You can optimally translate sophisticated investment messages and themes into easy-to-understand messaging and content.
Driven and self-motivated with the ability to work independently when needed and as a core part of cross-functional teams. You are upbeat, meticulous, committed to excellence and have superb time management skills.
Have an agile and creative mindset; demonstrates critical thinking and an innovative approach to problem solving.

About this role
About our team:
BlackRock Active Investment Stewardship (BAIS) is a specialist team within the active investing business which manages BlackRock’s stewardship engagement and voting on behalf of clients invested in active strategies globally. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new function, and we are looking to build a team of high performing associates and VPs located between HK, LON and NY. The team sits within BLK’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG) which encompasses BLK’s Fixed Income, Fundamental Equities, Private Credit, Systematic Investments, Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions and Private Investors Businesses. Our activities are informed by our Global Engagement and Voting Guidelines and insights from active investment analysts and portfolio managers, with whom we work closely in engaging companies.
Engagement with public companies is the foundation of our approach to stewardship within fundamental active investing. Through direct dialogue with company leadership, we seek to understand their businesses and how they manage risks and opportunities to deliver superior financial returns to our clients. Generally, portfolio managers and stewardship specialists engage jointly on substantive matters. Our discussions focus on topics relevant to a company’s success over time including governance and leadership, corporate strategy, capital structure and financial performance, operations and material sustainability-related risks, as well as macro-economic, geopolitical and sector dynamics.  We are constructive and patient investors, and generally support management as they adapt and develop their businesses to perform over time. We aim to build and maintain strong relationships with company leadership based on open dialogue and mutual respect.

About the position:
The BAIS Associate/VP will be responsible for voting and engagement across sectors for APAC markets, specializing in corporate governance, environmental and social issues as investment themes or risks,. They will provide support on portfolio company analysis, engagement preparation and follow up, and reviewing and assessing corporate governance in advance of voting. The intention is for the person in this role to specialize in a subset of the companies in BAIS’ engagement universe, along with various aspects of relevant policy, to support the delivery of our annual and long-term objectives. The role is based in Hong Kong and will report to the Head of BAIS/Deputy Head of BAIS.

Key responsibilities at the Associate/Vice President level include:
Demonstrating expertise in analysis of company performance, corporate governance and material sustainability-related practices.
Engage, in conjunction with portfolio managers, with Chairmen, CEOs, and other senior representatives of the companies in which BlackRock invests to address a range of issues including industry trends, strategy, and performance in addition to corporate governance.
Learning and applying BAIS engagement priorities, proxy voting policies, and key industry initiatives that have impact on BAIS policies and practices.
Supporting data gathering, benchmarking and reporting to support voting decisions and policy positions.
Assisting in the preparation of position papers to facilitate issue discussion with broader BlackRock audiences.
Collaborating across the team to identify ways to improve policy and business processes.
Building strong relationships and collaborating with relevant counterparts within the active investment business and selectively contributing to cross-platform initiatives

The tasks involved in fulfilling these responsibilities include:
Preparing for engagement with senior representatives of portfolio companies, including crafting memos in preparation for meetings highlighting key data that will be useful in our engagement and stewardship efforts.
Coordinating with active investors in fundamental equity and fixed income on engagement meeting agendas, questions and objectives.
Participating in industry research groups and thematic initiatives with the active investment teams as appropriate.
Attending, documenting and leading (as needed) engagement efforts, including recording research notes to be stored and shared with select audiences within BlackRock’s active investment business.
Monitoring policy developments and corporate governance standards and best practices to improve the relevance of BAIS’ guidelines.
Participating in peer benchmarking analysis and modeling to contribute to leading engagement and voting practices.
Monitoring proxy voting workflow to ensure all accounts are voted as intended and are in accordance with the appropriate guidelines.
Supporting the development of BAIS position papers and reporting.
Analyzing companies’ shareholder meeting agendas and related materials in order to vote in the manner most consistent with BAIS’ corporate governance policies and fiduciary responsibilities.
Collaborating with client-facing and communications colleagues to ensure client reporting and client presentations meet expectations, and that client queries on corporate governance are responded to promptly and to the client’s satisfaction.
Reviewing the BAIS team’s output and working practices to ensure risks are minimized and performance optimized.

Desired qualifications include:
An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, political science, history, sustainability or other relevant field. Postgraduate qualifications such as CFA or a master's degree are preferred.
A minimum of 4-9 years of experience in a financial service focused role, ideally with a demonstrated strong understanding of financial statements and corporate finance.
Experience in investment management, investment banking, corporate finance, and/or legal fields is an advantage.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and convey it in a clear and concise manner to senior-level audiences.
A diligent, focused, and persistent work ethic to implement while leading multiple tasks and changing priorities.
The ability to prioritize, analyze, and resolve complex issues under time pressure while maintaining consistent attention to detail.
An organized, self-reliant, and self-motivated approach to responsibilities.
A keen interest in corporate governance and material sustainable business practices.

About this role
The APAC GPS iShares and Index Product and Strategy team, is responsible for supporting client engagement for both institutional and wealth investors, creating thought leadership on strategic segments, driving new product innovation and launches, and partnering with ecosystem participants such as index providers, exchanges and broker/dealers to evolve the platform and ecosystem. The team drives our strategic product initiatives across all asset classes, the adoption of iShares index and active solutions by our clients and the design of new solutions, by engaging with internal and external partners in the region as well as globally.
The iShares APAC Product Research and Innovation team within Global Product Solutions is responsible for the design and development of index and active investment strategies for the launch of new ETFs and enhancement of the investment product range in APAC, covering all asset classes and product segments.
We are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Associate/VP with product development and research expertise to join the team and reporting to the Head of iShares APAC Product Research and Innovation. The role is based in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities:
Focus on the research and development of new products and enhancements to our existing range in the APAC region (Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Japan). This role is crucial for driving product innovation and achieving meaningful commercial outcomes.
Partner closely with product strategy, product development, and product innovation teams in other regions, as well as the ETF Engineering team.
Collaborate with the Head of iShares Product Innovation to research and develop new ETFs and evolve existing product offerings in APAC. Stay updated with the latest market changes, index provider methodologies, and data sets. Develop new ETF construction methodologies and simulated portfolios. Understand the rules and regulations for funds and portfolio implementation.
Develop and deliver content on new product designs, product knowledge, technical expertise, and competitor analysis across the different APAC GPS teams. Support distribution partners in commercializing new launches and identifying market opportunities for new products.

Key Requirements:
Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as economics, finance, or engineering.
Minimum of 3 - 7 years of relevant industry experience.
Proven experience in financial markets in a relevant capacity (investments, research, trading, structuring, financial engineering).
Experience with index investing, systematic and option strategies, financial data analysis and portfolio construction.
Ability to deliver back-tested strategies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and coding skills.
Strong research and analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and attention to details.
Fluency in English with strong presentation and communication skills; fluency in Mandarin a plus.
Ability to collaborate across investment, global markets, client-facing, and external partners (3rd party index providers, sell side researcher, industry experts).
