In order to strengthen the training of foreign-related legal talents, the Academy for the Rule of Law at China University of Political Science and Law has launched the project of “Chinese Law online Open Course in English” in September 2020. With support from the Publicity Office, Academic Office and NSIO of our university, The Highlights of PRC Copyright Law is produced by our Academy, written and presented by associate professor Dr. Zhang Nan. Another video produced by our academy has won the First Prize Award and the Most Popular Work Award in the Intellectual Property Video Contest run by China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
This video is composed of three parts. The first part reviews the promulgation of China’s first copyright law and the timeline of the past three amendments of the copyright law. The second part focuses on the latest amendment of Article 54, one of the most important changes in the third amendment, and analyzes it line by line, emphasizing that the copyright holders need to pay attention to the calculation method of copyright infringement, the change of the range of statutory damages and the upper and lower limits of punitive damages. The third part points out the latest highlights of Chinese Copyright Law, which aims to further safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of domestic and overseas copyright holders and increase the punishment for infringement.
