独立口语中常常出现一些时下的热点话题，比如： 要不要做整形手术 。这个话题，在近几年多次出现了在考场上。这样的热点话题，因为从前极少甚至没有出现过，通常会让同学们措手不及。那么，“整形手术”的题目该如何应对呢？

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Some people want to change their appearance, even by surgery. （2017年5月13日）

有的人想改变自己的外表，甚至是通过整形手术。你同意这个观点吗？你觉得是否存在这样的现象呢？

关于整形手术的题目，其本质是在讨论“外表”这个更具普遍意义的词。通常，

提升外表能带来的好处有：

more self-confidence更多的自信心，career promotion事业进步和pursue a man/woman追求爱情.

具体到这个题目，我们可以说同意，毕竟外表的提升能带来很多好处，大家自然要改变外表。

另一方面，通过整形手术来改变外表也存在一些问题。

整形手术可能对一个人的health、convenience和financial burden带来负面影响。

整形失败会损害健康；整形之后的恢复会给生活带来不便；此外，昂贵的整形费用会带来经济压力。

具体到这个题目，我们可以说，鉴于整形手术存在很多风险，大家并不想冒险，所以这个现象并不存在。

Opinion: I agree.

Outline:

R1: People can gain self-confidence by improving their appearance. Due to improved looks, the person may feel more comfortable. 人们可以通过整容提升自己的自信心。

R2: When hunting for a job, the pretty ones are more likely to receive the offer. Maintaining certain standards of appearance in the workplace is a necessity in the business world. Unfair or not, how you present yourself affects how others perceive your intelligence, education and capabilities. Appearance can influence people and potentially impact how a business performs.

找工作的时候，长得好看的人更容易被录取。毕竟，在商业交流的时候，你的外形会影响其他人对你的智力、教育水平和能力的判断。由此，你的形象会对业绩有潜在的影响。

R1: To be honest, beautiful ones tend to get something they want easier. People are troubled for a long time because of appearance, they definitely are willing to change their appearance by surgery.

R2: Besides, some people who are born with big scars or had a very terrific accident generally need some surgeries to repair their imperfections on their appearance.
