Job Description

Performing numerical simulations of multi-phase flow in porous media usingthe lattice-Boltzmann method. Simulations will be performed in the Porous MediaResearch (PMR) Lab which provides a computational platform for modelingpurposes. The PMR Lab is also connected to Beocat, the supercomputer center atK-State.

Writing peer-reviewed journal articles for publication. The postdoc isrequired to publish at least two articles in peer-reviewed journals with ISIindex.

The PMR Lab currently has four grad students. The postdoc is requiredco-mentoring undergrad and graduate students under supervision of Dr. BehzadGhanbarian.

Job Description

The Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the Universityof North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers a global health training opportunity topostdocs. This is an 11-month mentored training program offered at 23 academicinstitutions/training site in 18 countries worldwide. The focus areas ofresearch in communicable and non-communicable diseases range from medical,dental, nursing, pharmacy, to public health and veterinary medicine and cancerfrom the National Cancer Institute.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have previous experience conducting clinical orsocial research on global health related issues. Preferred candidates will alsohave a strong publication record and demonstrated experience in research studydesign and project implementation. Fellowship competencies include: -Fullunderstanding of framing research question, research design & methods andproject implementation -Understanding of NIH structure and approaches toobtaining funding in global health research (specific to the fellows area ofstudy) and other government/foundation funding mechanisms. -Demonstratedproficiency in oral and poster presentations, scientific/manuscript writing,grant writing -Understanding of supply chain in international procurement (projectbudgeting and expense tracking) -Understanding of mentor/mentee relationship,professional networking and engaging in career building activities andopportunitiesThe typical post-doctoral trainee will have completed highlyrelevant doctoral training in medical, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, publichealth or veterinary medicine or related areas and have been awarded a MD, PhDor equivalent terminal degree.

The Computational Genomics Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is searchingfor a highly motivated and talented post-doc candidate to work on penetranceestimation and precision medicine. The position will be involved in thedevelopment and application of computational approaches to understand themechanism of human diseases, especially cancer. The Lab is interested inunderstanding the genetic architecture of complex diseases and this position isparticularly focused on penetrance estimation using data from both pedigreesand large scale targeted sequencing studies. The candidate should have trainingor experience in statistical genetics. A candidate is expected to collaboratein a team environment and with clinicians who are studying cancer risk.
