改编成英文版歌剧 在国内外剧场开演

歌剧《红楼梦》中国巡演灯光设计师王天宏

用梦幻的灯光设计造了一场宏大的“红楼梦”



A group of Asian-American artists

After years of hard-working and with bold innovation

Adapted the masterpiece of classical Chinese novel 

“A Dream of Red Mansions”

Into an English opera which will be staged 

at home and abroad

The lighting designer of it, Wang Tian Hong

who created a great dream of red mansions with a fantastic lighting design

Light design is both the god and the servant to the play  

It can destroy the whole work   

or it may bring lights to work.

灯光设计很像下棋,每一个灯落下的点都有它的意义跟重要性。就像棋子一样,在什么时机用,你都要去想清楚。



“Light design is very much like playing the chess. The point where each light comes in is significant in its way. Just as playing the chess, you have to think carefully before you want to make a move. “ 





“赖声川老师一开始找到我的时候,我先把剧本熟悉了一下。因为导演最终想要呈现的效果就是在这些文本里面。所以我花了很多时间听音乐还有台词。旋律承载了很多情绪,而且表达很直接。举个例子,如果旋律上表达出他们已经相爱热恋到快要拥抱在一起的情绪,但是我的灯光却没有跟上气氛的话,那观众就不能完全体会到这种情绪。其实灯光就是要把观众的感官打开,让他们能更加设身处地的体验到戏剧中的情感。”



“When Mr. Lai first came to me, I went through the script carefully, because I think the script gives me the best idea of what the director ultimately wants to achieve on stage. So I spent lots of time listening to the music and going through all the lines. There are lots of emotions carried in the music, and it was put in a very direct way. For example, if the music came to a point where the two characters fell in love deeply, and they were about to hug each other, whereas my lights did not come up with that atmosphere, the audiences would not be able to get it. In that sense, the aim of the light is to inspire the audiences so that they could sense the emotions of characters as carried in the play. ”   





“在这部剧中,角色之间有很多对唱的桥段来表达两情相悦的感情。例如彼此感情发展到最高峰时,会互相高歌,互相赞美对方。这时我们就会把光线集中到他们身上来突出这个情绪。灯光的作用是让整个情境变得更加梦幻。观众会感受到就是好像世界只包围了他们两个人,让观众能够融入到角色之间的感情中。



There are many duets in this play to express the love between the characters. For instance, when their emotions are at a peak, they will sing to each other, and appraise each other, and that is the time when we want to focus the light on the characters to highlight it. The aim of the light is to create a dreamy effect for the stage. The audience would feel as if there were just two of them in the entire world. And in that sense, it allows the audience to be immersed in the mood of the characters.

让人物在舞台上呈现出晶莹剔透的质感

同时还营造出中国传统皮影戏的明暗变幻


The stage design of uses many translucent materials

Wang applies an approach of backlighting

to bring a sense of crystal texture 

to the characters on stage

and to create a transition of light as in a traditional Chinese shadow puppet play 



我们希望角色看起来很古典,所以服装全部都是用透光的纱制材料做的。灯光的颜色也是配合着衣服的材质来的,用以凸显人物的特征。例如黛玉的服装就是浅绿色,我就用灯光让浅绿色更加突出。



We want the characters to look very classic, so we make all our costumes in light-colored yarn. The color of the light is also in line with the material of the costumes to highlight the personality of the characters. For example, Daiyu’s costume was in light green, so I would choose particular light to highlight that light green. 




灯光设计需要你在前期提出很多的想法跟概念,但是最后还是要在舞台上落实。一般进剧场准备的时间都很短,大概一周左右。前面当然要做很多工作,但是最后的那一周才是精华。我很享受最后一周拼尽全力的感觉。因为在那一周内,你要把之前所有的想法做出来,而且在这个过程中往往会产生一些意想不到的结果。



“It requires to come up with lots of ideas and concepts in the early stage of light design. But by the end of the day, you have to make it into real on stage. So I think the lighting design is like training for a sprint - you trained for very long, but the game is very short, and you have to put every effort in it. We don’t have much time to prepare once we are there at the theatre, about a week or so, so every minute is important to us. Of course, you need to prepare a lot before it, but what you do in the last week is essential to the success of the play. I enjoyed putting all my efforts in the last week’s work. Within that week, you have to make all your ideas and concepts into real. And once you get through that process, from time to time you can achieve something that you don’t expect before.
