social networking service imposes adverse influence on both individual and
society. To be more specific, excessive exposure to those social networking
service weakens a person’s capability to communicate with others in reality and
negatively influences
their social
competence.
It is common that family
members scan at the screen of digital device without looking at others at
table. Additionally, some corruptive information from social networking service
also damages cohesion, credibility and harmony of society. Some young adults
lost their property even lives due to their trust in fake online information
from social networking service.
On the other hand,
the overwhelming advantages of social
networking service cannot be ignored.
In
other words, the advanced technology makes it possible to connect resources
regardless of geographical, language and culture barrier so that international trade,
commercial cooperation, online education
and course,
information consultation
become
possible. For example, a language learner can take online course
from online tutor in another country.
Furthermore,
the connection of resources
and exchange of information creates more job opportunities for online users.
For example, an online shopkeeper can sell local handicrafts to customers
anywhere by means of the online shopping platform. Therefore, it is beneficial
for the improvement of welfare and development of society.
In conclusion,
although
social networking service generates negative influence on one’s
communication capability and social cohesion to some extent, the benefits of
those online social networking service can never be overlooked.
