European Journal of Education (EJED) welcomes proposals for Special Issues and for potential themed Special Sections for publication in 2024 to be submitted to the journal Editor-in-Chief, Dr Gurpinder Singh Lalli, via the editorial office ([email protected]) by 3rd July 2023 for consideration.
Potential Guest Editors should submit a detailed proposal covering:

Rationale:
The timeliness, importance and international interest of the topic.

Fit with
European Journal of Education
’s
aims and scope
.

Indicative contents
(if not an open call): Titles, authors and abstracts should be provided, including an editorial.
-
Timetable
, indicating deadlines for submissions, review process, revisions and final submissions to EJED for publication in 2024. Guest editors should also clarify whether they will be including an open call for papers and if so factor this into their timetable.
Each Special Issue should include around 10 papers plus an Editorial by the Guest Editor(s).
Responsibilities of Guest Editors:

To ensure manuscripts are in keeping with
European Journal of Education
’s guidelines (see website).

To ensure articles are peer refereed by two external independent reviewers.

To deal with all correspondence with the contributors, Editor-in-Chief and Wiley colleagues.

To provide an introductory Editorial.
-
To ensure delivery of the final manuscripts by the agreed deadline.

Criteria for judging special issues are based on:

Relevance of the topic to the journal aims

Relevance of the topic to societal challenges
-
Seeking to build on research areas that are underdeveloped and where possible filling knowledge gaps

Engages with critical issues with recommendations and solutions
We have identified the following themes as indicative of areas in which we would welcome contributions. However, we would also welcome other proposals, and all will be considered by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board: Examples may include:

Indigenous knowledges and education

Intersectionality in education
-
Education, climate change and other environmental challenges
-
Health, well-being and education
We will also consider proposals for themed special sections within the journal, of 4-5 articles. The proposal submission process is similar to a full special issue proposal. We may encourage some proposals for special issues to become themed sections instead.
