Experience in the tourism or a related industry
Experience in working with Chinese travel trade distribution partners
Understanding and capability to drive content through new distribution systems such as Online Travel Agencies
Experience in developing and implementing integrated marketing campaigns with multiple trade partners and other stakeholders such as airlines
Ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
High level written & spoken English skills
Highly developed project management and budget management skills including the ability to manage numerous complex projects simultaneously
Well-developed report writing skills
Ability to proactively identify and capitalise on business opportunities
Proven leadership skills to inspire enthusiasm and engagement from stakeholders
Must be prepared to travel extensively
The Business Development Manager - China develops and implements trade marketing strategies and activities in China to drive the growth of the tourism industry in Queensland, Australia.
Work with the Director Business Development – China to develop the trade marketing strategy
Develop and implement targeted tactical campaigns with key trade partners
Monitor and report on trade marketing campaigns, ensuring the budget is effectively managed for each project
Initiate and manage TEQ and industry participation in projects
Understand the attributes of Queensland destinations and experiences and their relevance to Chinese consumers to ensure targeted campaigns
Develop marketing opportunities for Queensland industry partners
Educate the travel trade through seminars, sales calls and functions, on methods of access and range of Queensland product
Initiate and manage targeted trade and media familiarisation activity to support destination prioritisation and positioning strategies
Coordinate trade advertising and promotional activities in China
Maintain a prominent and positive presence in the travel and tourism industry by regular communication with key people and key stakeholders
Provide advice, market intelligence and insights to stakeholders
Manage, monitor and report on the progress of key performance indicators
Provide input into TEQ Executive Briefs, Ministerial briefs, Cabinet briefs
Other duties as directed
This position will play a key role in implementing the Advance Queensland: Connecting with Asia Strategy which is a Queensland Government funding commitment to grow tourism and make Queensland the destination of choice for Asian travellers.
The role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the growth of tourism in Queensland, to utilise your existing and build new relationships with key stakeholders in China and Queensland and expand your international marketing experience.
This position is classified as locally engaged and is subject to employment terms, conditions and laws as determined in China. Your eligibility is conditional on your work rights for China. This position is a 2-year contract.
