苹果新手机会采用人脸识别技术的传闻已传了几周了。9月12日在新闻发布会上，苹果公司副总裁证实了传闻：是的，iPhone Ⅹ可通过扫描面部解锁。将来也可将同样的技术用于支付。苹果公司首席执行官蒂姆·库克称，这是确认身份“最好和最简单的”办法。

从技术角度讲，识别不了的可能性很小，现在的技术已经很先进了。苹果公司称，iPhone Ⅹ的人脸识别功能甚至可在黑暗中识别，戴着帽子、假发、眼镜也没问题。

然而仍然有风险，像其他技术一样，人脸识别也无法做到百分之百地靠谱。苹果公司软件工程负责人周二在第一次演示该技术时就付出了代价，未能通过人脸识别功能解锁iPhone Ⅹ。此外，外界公认人脸识别技术在识别黑人和混血儿的面部时有困难。
