Cross-reference 对照，匹配

这里着重讲一下cross。作动词，cross是穿过的意思。作名词的意思很多人可能不清楚，是交叉、十字形物，如下图

引申下，cross 就好 把两个东西交叉对比 的意思，在这句话里，cross-reference 好比一手是kiosk里拍的面部数据，一手是数据库，两个交叉对比，就叫做 cross-reference。

同样的感觉， 相声 常常被翻译为 crosstalk ：两个人交叉着聊天。

Double-cross 好像两个叉叉，充满阴谋的感觉。因此，这个词指「 背叛 」、「 黑吃黑 」。

举个大家都知道的例子，我们在用word编辑文档时，常常用到一个功能叫做「交叉引用」，这个功能的英文名就叫做cross-reference，如下图
