Conference Overview and Subthemes
The Center for Information and Communication Studies at Fudan University,
Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, in partnership with the Institute for InternationalJournalism, in the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University,USA welcomes you to the international conference on Future of Media and CommunicationResearch: Media Ecology and Big Data.
In the age of new technology and big data, the media landscape in China and aroundthe world is changing rapidly with the rise of social media and digital media. Mediaecology brings various new topics for the media industry, academics and scholars.Areas being explored at all institutional/organizational sectors of media include—but not limited to—media convergence, the use of big data, and audience engagement.This conference has attracted scholars and research papers of interest to academics,industry and other interested stakeholders who are working with digitaltechnology, media or mass communication to ideate and present new approachesaddressing or exploring those important topics.
The research papers accepted for presentation at this conference will discuss newmedia and big data: big data and communication research paradigm; big data andmedia industry change; media use and engagement; computational social scienceand communication research; big data, education and media effects; and big data, media, and politics.
