Responsibilities: Participate in initial and ongoing operational due diligence meetings with hedge fund managers with which BXMA invests or is considering an investmentMonitor a sub-set of hedge fund managers active on BXMA’s investing platform on a continual basis. Collaborate with teammates to establish and carry out due diligence plans to maintain ongoing oversightReview and analyze hedge fund manager materials including, but not limited to, due diligence questionnaires, marketing materials, investor communications, regulatory filings, audited financial statements, and various internal policies (e.g., Compliance, Valuation, Trade Allocation, etc.)Produce comprehensive operational due diligence reports and risk assessmentsPresent verbal or written business updates to internal and external stakeholders, including BXMA Senior Management and investors, in a clear and professional mannerPerform due diligence on third-party fund administrators, technology consultants, compliance consultants, trading and operations software vendors and other service providers that support BXMA’s hedge fund managersReview third-party background checks and other public record searches on investment subjectsRespond to client requests and inquiries regarding industry and investment manager-specific topicsMonitor industry trends and regulatory developments through industry seminars and self-directed research. Content should be shared with the BFE Team and incorporated into due diligence practices as appropriate. As needed, produce materials for internal and external distributionAssist team members, Investment Strategy colleagues and Senior Management on special projects, such as research requests, benchmarking exercises and industry analyses
Qualifications:Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:1-3 years of prior professional experiencePreferred prior work experience includes financial, operational or compliance roles within a traditional or alternative asset management firm; financial or investment consulting; experience at a public accounting firm, hedge fund administrator, prime broker or law firm’s alternative asset management practiceKnowledge of hedge fund structures, terms, operations, accounting, valuation, trade flow and regulatory/compliance topicsStrong professional written communication skills and experience with business writingStrong verbal presentation skillsEnglish fluency is required; additional Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills are preferredExceptional leadership potentialAttention to detail, strong work ethic, self-motivation, proactivity and organizational skillsTeam orientedCandidate should be willing to travel occasionally (including internationally)
