Dr. Brian Tomlinson

国际著名教材研究专家，国际教材开发协会（MATSDA）创始人兼现任主席。Brian Tomlinson教授现任英国利物浦大学（University of Liverpool）名誉客座教授，上海市英语教育教学研究基地特聘客座教授，美国阿纳海姆大学（Anaheim University）TESOL教授。

Brian Tomlinson教授曾在印度尼西亚、意大利、日本、尼日利亚、阿曼、新加坡、英国、瓦努阿图、赞比亚等国家工作，先后担任过教师培训师、课程设计专家、电影临时演员、足球教练和大学教师等职，并在70多个国家做过学术讲座。

Tomlinson教授在教材编写、文学语言学习、阅读教学、语言意识和教师发展等方面已发表著作百余部，其中包括：

Introduction

This is a course developed for teachers and materials developers to help them to evaluate and to adapt materials so as to increase the likelihood that the materials that learners use have the potential to facilitate second language (L2) acquisition.

The course takes the position that materials for language learning should not just be imitations of materials that the developer is familiar with but materials which are informed by what we know from research and observation best helps learners to learn. The course advocates the principled evaluation of materials so as to inform the selection and adaptation of materials for target groups of learners in ways most likely to help them to develop the ability to communicate in the language they are learning.

Materials Evaluation

The course considers a number of ways of evaluating materials and then advocates that ideally materials should be evaluated through the use of criterion referenced questions about the likely effects of the materials on the learners who use them.

Materials Adaptation

The course explains that adaptations are not necessarily made to improve the intrinsic quality of materials but to help to make them more suitable and effective for specific groups of target learners.
