Prof. Chen’s lab is dedicated to the application of neutron and synchrotron techniques for deciphering the structural basis of various types of dynamic materials. Prof. Chen’s research focuses on the structures of dynamic materials at multiple length scales during the in-situ processes such as synthesis, self-assembly, nano- and micro-fabrication. Aided with neutron scattering and X-ray scattering techniques, she investigates the basics of the formation and the structure-function relationship of stimuli-responsive materials, which further provide the platform for the optimization of the material performance, for their usage in the fields of wearable electronics, soft robotics and human-machine interfaces.

Prof. Chen’s group carries out research at the Very Small Angle Neutron Scattering Spectrometer (VSANS) of the China Scattered Neutron Source (CSNS). Currently, the group is responsible for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Regional Joint Fund (RJF), and a number of provincial and municipal research projects.

Due to various research projects, her group is looking for a number of postdoctoral fellows:

About us

The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is the first pulsed neutron source facility in developing countries. Thus, it is expected to have a great influence on promoting the development of fundamental sciences and technology.

CSNS locates at Dalang Town of Dongguan City, the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area. It includes a powerful linear accelerator, a rapid circling synchrotron, a target station and three Phaes I neutron instruments. It aims to provide a powerful platform for both fundamental scientific research and high-tech development in many application fields such as material science, life science, resource environment, new energy, etc.
