Alexandre Loo

PROFILE

Alexandre Loo was born and raised in France. He is an undergraduate who is currently pursuing a double degree in the "Future Leaders" program at Peking University, Guanghua School of Management. Prior to Peking University, he was an exceptional scholar and student ambassador at ESSEC Business School, where he was an active player in the institution's campus and public affairs. He not only co-founded an organisation that involved doing business regionally, but also represented the brand globally.

Ran for student council

and co-founded an

entrepreneurial association

I firmly believe that one of the biggest accomplishments in my life so far is the journey that I decided to pursue which led me to study at Peking University. To make that a reality, I undertook the many opportunities I have stumbled on my journey before joining the prestigious institution.

For example, I ran for student council and I also represented ESSEC as an ambassador. For extra-curricular activities, I co-founded an entrepreneurial association at my school. I noticed that there was a demand for customized apparel in my institution. Therefore, my friend and I decided to be the ones to respond to the niche. We launched a student-led business where the organization consisted of producing merchandises for ESSEC. From hoodies to caps, you name it. As vice-president, I was in charge of general management. From supply chain, finances and marketing, I made sure that everything goes to schedule. A lesson that I learned from this unique experience is how important to have good friends or colleagues to make an organization great. With a talented team, everything is possible! This allowed me to have a team-driven mindset.

For personal growth, I am interested in investment and the idea of passive income. Whenever I have time, I trade stocks and cryptocurrency. I would not consider myself an expert in this industry. But as a humble trader who started learning since the start of the pandemic, I recommend starting early to have time by your side.

Finding self-worth by

helping others

During my spare time, I usually try to make the most out of it. From internships, part-time jobs, and volunteering, I enjoy contributing to society and feel helpful. For example, when COVID-19 was at its peak in early 2020, I decided to work in a non-profit organization called YWCA in Singapore during my summer vacation. During this time, I had many roles. From educator to food delivery, I aim to ease the burden of individuals in which the pandemic terribly impacted them. I remembered the time seeing the smile of one of the NGO's beneficiaries. Since that moment, helping people has become one of my core values.

"China will be the future"

With the current development of China's economy, I am convinced that China will be the future as it expands its influence throughout the world. It also is a rising star in global innovation with the country being a leader in fintech, artificial intelligence and 5G. With that said, an opportunity arises. This is what led me pursue the bachelor's degree in management at Peking University, Guanghua School of Management. With the academia at the heart of research, I do believe that my experience here is a necessary building block for both my personal and career aspirations in China.
