Deloitte joined TOP programme in 2022
Deal covers all games until Brisbane 2032
Atos has served as worldwide IT partner since 2001
Consultancy firm Deloitte has expanded its partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), serving as the lead technology integrator for all Summer and Winter Olympics until Brisbane 2032.
Deloitte first joined the IOC’s flagship TOP sponsorship programme in a decade-long, five-Games deal back in 2022, with digital transformation one of the key elements of the global partnership.
Early products of the relationship include a new Olympic fan data platform.
Now, starting with Milan Cortina 2026, Deloitte will be responsible for managing the entire Olympic IT operation, managing equipment and resources from multiple tech vendors at the Technology Operations Centre (TOC).
It will design, build, implement, operate and secure the IT infrastructure, key applications, and cybersecurity provisions, building technologies that can be reused and adapted to the needs of individual Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Everything from accreditation and scheduling through to results and team management software will come under its expanded remit.
“Our commitment to being at the forefront of technological advancement is unwavering, and with Deloitte as our Games technology integration partner, we are poised to reach new heights,” said Ilario Corna, the IOC’s chief technology and information officer.
“Ensuring the robustness, efficiency and sustainability of our IT infrastructure is essential for the seamless execution of the Olympic Games.
“Together with Deloitte, we are excited to explore new possibilities and drive forward the future of technology in sport. Our shared vision of excellence and innovation will ensure that the Olympic Games remain a symbol of human potential and achievement. We look forward to continuing this journey, setting new benchmarks, and inspiring future generations through our commitment to technological advancement and excellence in the world of sport.”
Deloitte replaces French IT giant Atos, which has been the IOC’s worldwide IT partner since 2001 and served as the tech integrator for multiple Summer and Winter Olympics, including the recently concluded Paris 2024 Games.
Atos’ attention has now turned to performing a similar role for the Paralympics later this month. However, its current deal with the IOC and International Paralympic Committee (IOC) comes to an end after the closing ceremony, bringing an end to its long relationship with the Olympics.
SportsPro understands that the IOC’s decision to switch provider was made two years ago and is unrelated to Atos’s ongoing financial challenges. Indeed the company, which is the subject of a US$1.8 billion restructuring plan, has since agreed an eight year deal with Uefa to become the official technology partner for all men’s national team competitions, including Uefa Euro 2024 in Germany earlier this summer.
Other confirmed technology partners for Milan Cortina 2026 and LA28 include Alibaba, Omega and Samsung. Juniper Networks will provide networking equipment for the former, while Cisco will perform a similar role for the latter.
