主要研究领域为合成生物学及代谢工程、高纯天然产物规模制备及活性研究。近年来承担了科技部重点研发任务、国家自然科学基金重点、面上项目、企业合作等项目。
以第一或通讯作者先后发表SCI论文280余篇(他引17400余次,H因子-66),授权PCT、中国发明专利60余项。有多项成果实现工业生产,创造了良好的经济效益。以第一获奖人获国家科技进步二等奖1项,省部级科技进步特等奖1项、一等奖2项、二等奖2项等。
