2024 CAAPA Best Paper Awards Committee Report
The 2024 CAAPA Best Paper Awards Committee, comprised of Dr. Ping Xu (Professor, University of Rhode Island), Dr. Jiahuan Lu (Associate Professor, Rutgers University), and Dr. Xin Chen (Assistant Professor, Sun Yat-sen University), notes in their assessment that the following two articles are exceptionally strong ones and are the most deserving of being the recipients of the 2024 CAAPA Best Paper Awards.
The committee unanimously deems both papers to exemplify first-rate scholarship on multiple dimensions, including but not limited to the importance of theoretical questions, the richness of empirical data, the methodological rigor, and their important implications for public affairs research.
Wen Wang Award for Best Young Scholar Paper
The 2024 CAAPA Wen Wang Award for Best Young Scholar Paper is presented to 向天怡 Dr. Tianyi Xiang (School of Government, Peking University) and 陈一帆 Dr. Yifan Chen (School of International and Public Affairs, Shanghai Jiao Tong University) for their article: “To Coordinate or Not? A Configurational Approach to Understand Public Organizations’ Emergency Preparedness Coordination”, Public Administration Review, 2023 (Online First).
The Best Student Paper Award
The 2024 CAAPA Best Student Paper Award is presented to 张珺 Jun Zhang (Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University) and 张媛媛 Yuanyuan Zhang (School of Law, Tsinghua University) for their 2023 PMRC conference paper: “Organizational Diffusion in the Judicial Administration: An Event History Analysis on the Diffusion of Environmental Courts in China.”
