School of Media and Design (SMD) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is now accepting applications for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor in Management related to Cultural & Creative Industries and New Media Industries.
Founded in 1896, SJTU is one of the three oldest universities in modern China. Its outstanding graduates include former Chinese president Jiang Zemin and "The Father of Chinese Aerospace" Qian Xuesen. Established in 2002, SMD of SJTU consists of four departments: Journalism & Communication, Film & Television, Design, and Cultural Industries Management, offering a series of undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs. Currently, SMD has more than 700 undergraduates, over 400 master students, and 100 doctoral students (including more than 250 international students in various programs).
SMD has launched four international graduate programs taught in English, including M.A. in Mew Media Studies, Ph.D. in New Media Studies, M.A. in Design and Arts, and Ph.D. in Design Science and Engineering. Therefore, we especially need to recruit new faculty to teach in these international programs; meanwhile, we expect the new faculty to conduct high-quality research in Management related to Cultural & Creative Industries and New Media Industries.
Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a Ph.D. degree in management, economics, new media studies, or related fields by August 15, 2017 from globally renowned universities. Candidates for Associate Professor should not only have a Ph.D. in hand but also have demonstrated a significant influence on the profession by their research and a commitment to teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates for Full Professor should not only have a Ph.D. in hand but also be nationally/internationally recognized for their scholarly achievements while demonstrating a commitment to teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
