刘默芳,博士,现任中科院生化与细胞所研究员,国家“杰青”。分别于1991年、1994年在华东理工大学获学士、硕士学位,2000年在中科院上海生物化学研究所获博士学位。分别于2000 -2005年、2005-2006年在美国国家健康研究院癌症研究所 (National Cancer Institute, NIH)博士后研究、约翰霍浦金斯医学院遗传和分子生物学系任研究助理。2006-至今,中科院生化与细胞所,先后担任co-PI、RNA研究技术平台主任、研究组长(PI)。2013年入选国家杰出青年科学基金获得者。刘默芳研究组从事非编码RNA功能机制研究,主要围绕piRNA与哺乳动物精子发生、 microRNA与人类癌症等开展较系统的探索。近期工作先后发现小鼠piRNA及其结合蛋白MIWI在后期精子细胞中协同降解的调控机制(Dev Cell 2013)、 小鼠粗线期piRNA指导父本mRNA在精子形成后期大规模降解(Cell Res 2014);发现了小鼠piRNA可直接介导部分睾丸mRNA的切割,揭示了piRNA可在小鼠睾丸组织中发挥siRNA类似的功能,而且该功能为雄性生殖细胞发育成熟所必需(Cell Res 2015);同时还发现microRNA在炎症相关肿瘤发生及肿瘤细胞代谢中具有极其重要的调控作用 (Cancer Res 2017; Oncogene 2016; EMBO J 2015; Cancer Res 2014; Cell Res 2014; EMBO J 2012; Cell Res 2012; Cancer Res 2010)。这些原创性研究成果揭示了小分子非编码RNA的生理和病理功能机制, 可为男性不育症及肿瘤等疾病的诊治研究提供理论依据和相关基础。
