A massively popular Chinese chain restaurant, Yang's Braised Chicken Rice, is heading for America to serve their one main dish named clay pot chicken and rice.
The company announced that they will set its first flagship restaurant in Tustin, California on September 10.
The Yang's Braised Chicken Rice restaurant was founded in 2011 by Yang Xiaolu. For now, Yang has over 6,000 restaurants all over China, as well as many locations in Japan, Singapore, and Australia.
The main dish clay pot chicken is a dish that has been passed down through the family since 1930s. The chicken will be put in a clay pot and stew with mushrooms, ginger, and peppers, adding some sweetness and a spicy kick.
Although the one-dish menu may seem limiting, the limited menu has worked well for the concept in other countries, said Eriko Zhao, vice president of Tustin-based Yang Ming Yu Braised Chicken USA Group.
In a way, it's part of the brand's appeal, she said.
At Yang's restaurant, customers can choose between three levels of spice, from mild to spicy. Rice then comes on the side, but they recommend putting rice straight into the pot to enjoy. The chicken-and-rice combination is priced at $9.99.
Because the sauce is still produced in China and then imported into the US, Yang says the dish will taste virtually identical to the original.
Won't be starving when traveling abroad next time.
