I was just reading a book little bit. So it's called
Siddhartha
. It's about a spiritual journey of a boy who is living in India. And as during the time of Buddha, and he is searching for enlightenment. So the book just goes through…he goes through different lives. So he starts out with a lot of money. And then he gives all of his stuff away, and he just lives in the forest. And then he becomes a merchant. And he just goes through all of these different lives in search of trying to find enlightenment.
And it's just a very nice book. So the author is Herman. His name is Herman Hesse. And he is actually a German author. And he writes a lot of books like this, just things about the meaning of life and a lot of spiritual phenomena that people can be interested in. And it's also super nice because the language that he uses is really simple. So even though it can be it's very meaningful to read, it's also not too complicated.
Yes, the book is in English.
So apart from this book that you mentioned , which is called Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, what other books do you recommend? I mean lately you have been reading.
Another sort that I read is called
Animal Farm
. Yes. Have you read it?
Yes, of course. George Orwell.
Yes. It's also a story. But just interesting to read about. I mean this is based on the Russian revolution. Just interesting to learn about something in history in the form of story and the form of something so simple as in Animal Farm. So I just think that the book has a lot of irony and just also I found it very sad to live…
This book is a classic one. Definitely.
Yeah. I don't really read very many novels. I think actually these past two books, I'm starting to try to read novels more, because usually when I'm reading books, it's about things that I want to learn about.
Books for use instead of books for entertainment nowadays. It's more like this.
Yeah, exactly. So I think the last book that I was reading was about…because I'm also a yoga teacher, and so I'm teaching at a resort for the next month in a house. And I wanted to start learning about yin yoga. So I’ve also been reading a book about Yin yoga.
Do books play a very important part in your life?
Yes, I really enjoy reading books. I think that it's just goes with this whole thing of, if you don't use it, you lose it. Right? So I mean I’m not in school anymore. So I'm not being forced to read books or do assignments or things like that. And I think that a lot of times when people stop going to school, they just stop learning or they think that they don't have to go any further.
I just think that it's really important to continue your own self learning. And I prefer to do this through books. of course you can look up things on the internet and you could pretty much find anything on the internet. But books to me is just, it's like when you want very deep Information and really specific knowledge about something. You just can’t…some things you cannot find on the internet. So that's why books are important to me, because you really just get this thorough explanation of something that you're interested in or you find that you can value in your life?
The internet is definitely essential. The internet is critical in some way, but it just gives you sources of information. And if you want to know deep knowledge of something, you gotta buy books to dig deeper.
Exactly, exactly. So do you prefer to read novels or how do books come into your life?
I do read novels. But I do have more books that is just for use, reference books and books that are related to my work. When do you usually read throughout the day? You usually read before bed or in the morning?
