Here are a few key issues that need to be addressed if we are to improve the education system in my country.

Firstly, we need to ensure teachers’ entitlement to professional development. Experienced teachers are a great asset , and nowhere does the quality of a school system exceed the quality of its teachers. However, their professional status often goes unrecognized and little attention is given to furthering their professional development. Currently, when deciding where to invest, school systems prioritize the size of classes over quality of teachers. At the very least, they should provide pathways for teachers to grow in their careers. They should support their teachers to make innovations in pedagogy , to improve their own performance and that of their colleagues, and to pursue professional development that leads to stronger educational practice.

It's also important to create a positive social climate for learning. Just two-thirds of students feel they belong at school. The school system should create an environment where students believe that they can learn and that what they are learning is useful, relevant, and meaningful for them. They need to know that they belong in the classroom to learn, not to co mpete ag ainst classmates.
