1) Self, identity and digital media: towards an elision of the private?
The seminar will explore how our sense of self is being reshaped by the use of digital media, and what this means for traditional divisions between private and public self, and between intimacy and exteriority
2) Digital platforms and new forms of creation of value in the digital economy
This seminar will explore the emerging logic of creation of economic value in a digital society, at the time of social network sites as Facebook, Google, Weibo and Wechat. It will argue that their production of value fundamentally revolves around the aggregation of users into market niche to become target of targeted ads. It will propose some reflections on this logic of clustering and its consequences.
嘉宾简介：
Paolo Gerbaudo，伦敦大学金斯密斯学院媒介与传播博士，伦敦国王学院数字文化与社会讲师、数字文化研究中心主任。主要研究领域为社交媒介、社会运动、数字政策等。著有《Democracy 2.0: the Rise of Net Parties》（forthcoming）、《The Mask and the Flag: Citizenism and Global Protest》（2016）、《Tweets and the Streets: Social Media and Contemporary Activism》（2012）。
