随着全球城市化、气候变化、污染和社会不公日益加剧的环境大趋势，大脑和精神健康也在不断面临新的挑战。由Nature Mental Health 期刊委托，复旦大学类脑智能科学与技术研究院特聘全职教授Gunter Schumann牵头，联合复旦大学、WMO、WHO、香港大学、德国海德堡大学、英国诺丁汉大学、谷歌、美国加州科维理基金会（The Kavli Foundation）、荷兰唐德斯脑、认知与行为研究院（Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour）、非洲健康研究院（Africa Health Research Institute）等世界知名研究机构、国际组织的代表人员，成立地球大脑健康委员会（《自然-精神卫生》）。该委员会是《自然》系列期刊的一次先导性尝试，旨在联合各领域领军人士，在现有研究的基础上，运用跨学科的方式，关注精神健康的环境相关因素，发现当下研究中的关键问题和空白领域，制定相应的研究策略，探索可用于减轻危害心理健康的环境因素，提供在全球范围内改善个人和社区心理健康的技术进步创新解决方案。

2024年9月17日（德国柏林时间），地球大脑健康委员会（《自然-精神卫生》）启动会议将在德国柏林举办。委员代表向大众公开委员会成立的初衷、期望解决的问题以及未来发展方向后，将进行首轮探讨，关注文化、社会和物理环境多样性可能导致的脑机制行为表现及其对于精神健康的影响。
