Combination Therapy for the Treatment of Obesity and Dysregulated Metabolism

全文截稿: 2017-08-31
影响因子: 2.341
期刊难度: ★★★
网址: www.journals.elsevier.com/physiology-and-behavior

The goal of this special issue is to highlight approaches to the treatment of obesity and/or dysregulated metabolism which involve the consideration of multiple target systems in combination. Examples may include but are not limited to: targeting of multiple peptide/neurotransmitter systems, behavioral and pharmacological interventions, novel therapeutics with mechanism(s) of action on more than one target system. In this sense, the word “combination” may be broadly interpreted as therapy which is inherently multifactorial in design.

We invite investigator contributions in the form of original empirical research articles as well as review articles from basic, clinical, and translational studies that comprise the thematic elements of combination therapy. These studies may focus on applicability to obesity or other major syndromes/conditions [e.g., cachexia, anorexia, hyperlipidemia] which potentially involve dysregulated metabolism and/or energy balance.

The submission portal will be live from July 1st, 2017 and please ensure to select the appropriate article type “SI: Combination Therapy” when submitting your paper. Submissions are due by August 31, 2017. All submissions will undergo normal peer-review. We anticipate final decisions by the end of December 2017, and publication in February 2018.

Call for Papers: Virtual Special Issue “Surface Modification and Characterization of Nanodiamond Particles” in Diamond and Related Materials

全文截稿: 2017-10-31

期刊难度: ★★★
网址: www.journals.elsevier.com/biomaterials

Nanodiamond particles have gained considerable attention in the last few years as it has been considered to be one of the most promising nanocarbon materials for a variety of applications. Although its discovery dates back to the sixties of the 20th century the raise of research activity begun only much later. This is obviously also due to a number of highly complex questions regarding its structure, colloidal behaviour and reactivity. These include e.g. the nature of the surface groups, their influence on electronic properties, the formation and behaviour of lattice defects, the agglomeration of nanodiamond in different media from organic solvents to biofluids as well as the influence of surface orientation, termination and particle size for the reactivity towards organic and inorganic reaction partners.

This special issue is dedicated to these open questions regarding nanodiamond particles and highlights forefront research in the field of nanodiamond chemistry and physics. In particular, articles on novel surface chemistry, optical, electronic and magnetic, biomedical and physical properties and their control as well as applications of functional nanodiamond materials are invited. Furthermore, studies on the use of spectroscopic and other analytical tools for the in-depth analysis of nanodiamond’s properties are highly welcome.

This concise collection of papers on nanodiamond particles will gain high visibility and therefore highlight the research of the contributing groups.

Special Issue: Genetic characterization of diseases using molecular markers

全文截稿: 2017-10-31

期刊难度: ★★★

Recent technologies developed since the sequencing of the human genome allow scientists to profile samples using a patient’s whole genome sequence, the expression of all of their genes, or by measuring thousands of proteins. Before this technology was developed, single Markers were often discovered by a chance observation, a hypothesis based on existing molecular knowledge or by laborious screening. Increased knowledge of genes biology is generating promising marker candidates for more accurate diagnosis, prognosis assessment, and therapeutic targeting.

A large number of studies were published in the field of disease Markers. However more clinical studies are needed to enrich our understanding of genetics characterization of disease using molecular markers as well as to make timely diagnosis and to introduce treatment of disease. Genetics characterization of disease using molecular markers is an important process that provides valuable data to detect variation at DNA level and to assess genetic diversity in Human. DNA markers are used to evaluate the genetic variation in gene banks, as well as to identify phylogenetic and molecular structure of crops and their associated wild species. It can be used to study the relationship between an inherited disease and its genetic cause.

The purpose of this special issue is to invite authors to submit original research, research articles, review articles, case reports, opinions and editorials on all the related aspects ofgenetic characterization of diseases using molecular markers. Articles must be meticulous, detailed and well referenced. Publications in this special issue aim to provide new targets for disease characterization, early diagnosis, and drug discovery and development. It gives also insight into the genetic variability in deferent ethnicities.

Special issue: Consumers’ physiological information to measure marketing strategies effectiveness: the power of unconscious responses

全文截稿: 2017-12-31

The use of neuroscientific methods to obtain consumers’ information is starting to call the attention among marketing researchers and managers. That’s because low order emotions can play an important role in product trial.

Various tools have been used in the past to test the efficacy of different marketing strategies, mainly based on traditional/verbal measures interested in capturing high order emotions (conscious responses). However, the use of physiological measures to investigate low-order emotions (unconscious responses) and its role on product acceptance is scarce. In addition, self-report measures suffer from an important limitation referred to as “cognitive bias” that physiological measures could avoid.

In this framework, the present call for papers looks for novel investigation developed with the objective of testing how different marketing stimuli (i.e. advertisements, packaging, brand, shopping environment, social networks etc.) produce physiological responses that could be used to explain consumers’ behaviors.

Stem Cell Research

Call for papers "Integrative biology studies in pluripotent stem cells"

全文截稿: 2017-12-31
影响因子: 3.494
期刊难度: ★★★
网址: www.journals.elsevier.com/stem-cell-research

Pluripotent stem cells combine the potential to generate all embryonic precursors and mature cell types with the ability to self-organize into embryonic structures and more mature tissues and organoids. An intense focus of current research is how pluripotent cells can be used to model development and the ontogeny of genetic diseases. Unearthing the molecular mechanisms that sustain and dissolve the program of self-renewal in pluripotent stem cells is crucial for understanding how they give rise to embryonic precursors and functionally differentiated cells in an organized manner. Over the past decade more than hundred genes have been identified, most of them transcription factors, that are involved in the processes of self-renewal and differentiation. Advances in deep sequencing, proteomics and bioinformatics are now beginning to reveal regulation of stem cell fate at the level of the RNAome and proteome. For this special issue of Stem Cell Research we seek integrative studies aiming at elucidating the role of the (epi)genome, RNAome or proteome in shaping pluripotent stem cell identity and regulating their differentiation towards embryonic precursors and functional cell types. We also welcome studies that use cell, genomics or computational approaches toward understanding pluripotent stem cell differentiation and disease modeling.

Original and Review articles are accepted. All manuscripts will undergo peer-review to determine their suitability for publication.
