Job Purpose/Background:
A diverse and challenging role currently exists within the Dublin team for a financial reporting and audit specialist to focus on funds based in the EMEA region. The role has responsibility for ensuring technical accuracy of fund financial statements and oversight of the audit and financial statements process (annual and interims) to ensure that deadlines are met by all parties and that the financial statements, prepared by the fund administrators, meet BlackRock’s quality standards. The role requires liaison with multiple parties both internal and external to BlackRock, of varying levels of seniority, throughout the audit and financial statements process. Under the direction of the Director, the successful individual will be involved in the implementation of changes in accounting standards, and policy writing under multiple different accounting standards across the European fund range.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting standards and financial statements reviews:
Contribute to the monitoring of changes in the accounting standards (IFRS, Luxembourg, UK GAAP, US GAAP) in consultation with other BlackRock offices and the auditors.
Carry out analytical, quantitative and qualitative reviews of financial statements prepared by fund administrators, ensuring that BlackRock disclosure policies and quality standards are maintained, and resolving any audit queries addressed to BlackRock.
Investigate technical disclosure issues with the fund administrators and auditors and contribute to the technical development of the BlackRock model disclosures documents.
Keep abreast of product, business, accounting standards and regulatory changes and develop and maintain a good understanding of the financial accounting environment at fund administrators.
Working with others
Liaise with multiple parties including other team members, Boards, fund administrators and various internal department to ensure that financial statements and audit are completed on time and to a high standard and that all regulatory requirements are met.
Brief the Audit Committee and Board of Directors on relevant fund-specific audit matters and their resolution and present the financial statements and related reports to the Audit Committee, and the Board, and attend meetings to answer related questions as required.
Preparation of board reporting material and ad-hoc reporting, as required.
Take ownership for ad hoc project activities within Global Financial Reporting, as required.
Service monitoring and the internal control environment
Take ownership for the relationship management, and service provider feedback, with the Financial Reporting teams at multiple fund administrators, providing input into any internal upward reporting on performance.
Contribute to the continual development of the financial statements production and control processes to optimise efficiency, mitigate risk and incorporate business and product changes, ensuring that the procedures are maintained in line with all current practices.
Knowledge/Experience:
A strong understanding of the current requirements of the accounting standards and regulatory and tax regimes throughout the APAC region, in particular Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Demonstrate knowledge of a range of fund accounting activities and their interaction with the production of financial statements, as well as understanding of different fund strategies and of relevant investment instruments and products, including different types of derivatives.
Display a pro-active interest in keeping up to date with industry, accounting standards and investment product changes.
Skills/Qualifications:
The role would suit a part qualified / recently qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) with audit experience in investment management or financials services audit or, alternatively, experience within a financial reporting environment at a fund administrator.

Able to effectively prioritise workloads and adhere to deadlines. The successful individual will need to be highly organised and able to pro-actively co-ordinate and manage multiple deadlines and monitor delivery by all parties, and everyone in their team, on timetabled activities.
