现今这个时代，骄傲和自我中心似乎越来越被美化改写成一种被大众普遍接受的“自我价值”的特质，人们内心深处似乎越来越觉得自己强大到无所不能，没有不能实现不能征服的。
然而，人们真的强大，真的无所不能吗？在自然灾害、经济危机，精神困境面前，人们难道不是显得那样渺小和无力吗？
事实上，认识自己的有限，并心存谦卑，是一个人灵魂高贵的体现，圣经上也有许多上帝赐福谦卑之人的应许。

You hear, O LORD,
the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them,
and you listen to their cry.
耶和华啊，谦卑人的心愿，
你早已知道；
你必预备他们的心，
也必侧耳听他们的祈求。

Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
耶和华是良善正直的，
所以他必指示罪人走正路。

From heaven you pronounced judgment,
and the land feared and was quiet，
when you, O God, rose up to judge,
to save all the afflicted of the land.
你从天上使人听判断。
神起来施行审判，
要救地上一切谦卑的人，
那时地就惧怕而静默。
