The Journal of Rare and Endangered Studies, an academic publication sponsored by the Institute for Collaborative Innovation of Rare and Endangered Studies, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and is published twice a year. Guided by President Xi Jinping's important exposition on "we should not neglect more marginal subjects that are of high cultural value or bear on Chinese heritage," this journal is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of rare and endangered studies, adhering to the publication purpose of "carrying on the tradition, inspiring innovation, and using the past as a mirror for the present." It focuses on endangered disciplines with unique cultural value, high academic thresholds, challenging research, small research communities, and even the risk of no successors, aiming to provide a high-end platform for academic peers to publish new insights and exchange academic viewpoints.
In terms of article publication, this journal adheres to the principle of "two equal emphases and three prominences," namely, equal emphasis on Chinese history and world history, and equal emphasis on historical research and practical significance, while prominently featuring interdisciplinary research, innovation, and cultural exchanges and mutual learning. This journal particularly encourages the publication of academic excellence in niche fields, obscure topics, and vertically segmented fields, contributing to the research and development of rare and endangered studies.
The journal regularly features research columns such as "Manchu Studies," "Silk Manuscript Studies," "Turkic Studies," "Assyriology and Egyptology Studies," and "Classical Studies," and irregularly sets up columns such as "Academic Information on Rare and Endangered Studies" to publish cutting-edge developments in the academic community. We warmly welcome experts and scholars in related fields to contribute their papers, with topics ranging from language and text understanding, document restoration, to research related to politics, economics, society, and culture across various columns. The journal has no restrictions on the word count of papers, welcoming both academic notes of one to two thousand words and lengthy treatises of thirty to forty thousand words.
